Pinot Gris
This is an extremely popular style of wine at the moment. The demand for Pinot Gris is fuelled by wine drinkers seeking an alternative to Chardonnay. In Italy the wine is usually crisp to taste with melon, nuts and honey flavours, in Alsace they tend to be fuller bodied and dry with a hint of spices. New Zealand winemakers tend towards a mixture between both styles. Still a relatively new arrival in New Zealand, although its reputation is growing fast, so we will be seeing a lot more of this variety in the future.
